Beeswax, pigment, cloth on wood
Encaustic painting is done with hot beeswax and pigment layered and fused onto a hard surface. It is an ancient technique, reborn during the 20th century. Rich in color and texture it is extremely archival and will not melt unless exposed to temperatures over 150 degrees.
